Reasons why you have to repeat yourself

"I'm sorry, can you repeat that, please?"

"I didn't quite catch what you said. Can you say that again?"


Do these requests sound familiar? Are there certain English words that people just don't understand when you say them?

One of the main reasons you have to repeat yourself is because you are not using the three rules of English stress correctly. English is very picky about word stress. If you emphasize the wrong syllable, you'll be repeating yourself over and over again.

    Yes, you are right completely. In order to have a great English and to be understood other people the right pronunciation is above all.

      Thanks, Larisa! I agree, you can have excellent vocabulary and grammar but you still won’t be understood if your pronunciation isn’t accurate. That’s why I enjoy teaching pronunciation skills.
